Your club, your project
When you sign up you get a club with a roster, an arena and a budget. You don't start from scratch and you don't pay anything: the challenge is to make it grow season after season, from the division you join all the way up to the Premier.
Your club page brings together what matters: crest, popularity, trophy room, upcoming matches and a log of everything that happens, from being outbid to an injury or a change in morale.
- Your own crest and kit colours
- Popularity that grows with results and brings in fans
- A private event log that only you can see
Players with 23 attributes
Every player has 23 attributes split into four groups: mental, physical, offense and defense. Each one goes from "awful" to "legendary" across 14 levels, so two players with the same rating can play in very different ways.
Some also have a special ability (Sharpshooter, Wall, Microwave, Showman, Powerful…) that creates its own plays during the match. Certain pairs work together: a Showman and a Powerful player on court can finish with an alley-oop.
- Main position and, in some cases, a secondary position
- Age, salary and progression to keep an eye on
- Jersey number of your choice from 0 to 99
You call the tactics
Before every match you choose your starting five, your bench, your captain and how many minutes the starter and the substitute play in each position. Then you decide how to attack and how to defend.
On offense you can look for the inside game, go for outside shots, clear out for your best shooter or mix it all. On defense, a 2-3 zone, a 3-2 zone or man-to-man. You can also prepare a plan B that kicks in by itself at the start of the third or fourth quarter if you are behind by a certain margin.
- 4 offensive systems and 3 defensive ones
- Minutes split by position between starter and substitute
- Different tactics for each type of match
Live matches, play by play
Matches are played at a fixed time and you can follow them live: score, clock, quarter scores, fouls, substitutions and a commentary of every play, with the stats of the players on court.
The result depends on your players, their condition and the tactics you prepared, not on pressing buttons during the match. Afterwards you get the full box score and a replay to watch it again, with the option of hiding the score if you don't know it yet.
- MVP Live to follow several matches at once
- Full stats and efficiency rating (PIR) for every player
- Match archive and replays
Training and specialists
Training is how your players improve. You split 100% of the work between groups of attributes or specific attributes, and you can have different plans for each position.
Physical training follows its own season plan, which moves forward three days a week. The specialist coaches (offensive, defensive, physical and mental) strengthen each area: the mental coach, for example, sets how high your players' morale can go.
- Training plans by position
- Progression that depends on each player's age
- History showing how every attribute has evolved
A coaching staff built your way
Your head coach has his own level, experience and intelligence, and his offensive and defensive levels give your players a boost during matches. His attributes decline with age, and he retires at 78.
Staff are hired à la carte: you choose the level and experience you are willing to pay for. Besides the coaching staff there is a youth coach, physiotherapists and a doctor, who affect your academy and injury recovery.
- Hiring by choosing level and experience
- Recycling staff to recover part of their value
- Each role influences a different area of the club
A real auction market
Signings are made through auctions between managers. You filter by position, age, nationality, ability, rating or price, study the player's profile and bid before time runs out.
Your bid is held from your balance and, if another manager outbids you, it is returned automatically. With auto-bid you set a limit and the system only raises as much as needed. You can also put your own players up for sale.
- 48-hour auctions
- Auto-bid with a hidden limit
- A favourites list to follow players and rivals
League, cups and much more
Each league has 16 teams and 30 rounds, home and away, with matches on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The top eight play the title playoffs; teams 11th to 14th play the relegation playout; and the bottom two go straight down.
There is also the League Cup, on Mondays, between the teams in your league; the Global Cup, on Sundays, with managers from every division; and the All-Star with a three-point contest. Outside the official calendar you can create private tournaments with friends or climb the 125 levels of Climb mode.
- Promotion and relegation between divisions
- Prize money and trophies for your cabinet
- Milestones that record the achievements of your career
Arena, fans and finances
Your arena is your main source of income. You expand it in stages, set ticket prices according to your popularity and the appeal of each match, and you can see it in 3D with the stands you have built.
There are more ways to earn money: sponsors with bonuses for objectives, a club shop with your own jerseys and a restaurant for the crowd at home matches. Everything is recorded on the finances page, where you can see every income and every expense.
- 3D view of your arena
- Sponsorships per round or based on results
- Optional kit shop and restaurant
Youth academy: home-grown talent
Every week you can promote a youth player aged 16 to 19 to the first team. Their quality and age depend on your youth coach: the better the coach, the better and younger the player who arrives.
A youngster trained well over several seasons can become the star of the team without paying a transfer fee, and selling the academy players who don't fit is another source of income.
- One promotion per week
- Players aged 16 to 19
- Your youth coach decides their quality
National teams
The best players of each country are called up by their senior or under-19 national team and play international friendlies on Saturdays. For the player it means extra experience and, sometimes, a physical boost with no risk of injury.
Each national team can have a head coach chosen from the community's managers, who picks the squad and prepares the tactics. And the first MVP Basket National Teams World Cup is on its way.
- Senior and under-19 national teams
- National coaches chosen from among the managers
- Automatic call-up if nobody picks the squad
A community in seven languages
MVP Basket is played in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian, French, German and Polish. The forums automatically translate posts into each reader's language, so you can talk to managers from any country.
Your league has its own forum, you can send private messages to other managers and play from your browser or from the mobile app.
